July Hedgehog Hollow Sunny Studios Card feat Coastal Cuties

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Today I’m sharing a card made with the July Hedgehog Hollow Sunny Studios box. Of course if you watch the video you will see I did things the hard way 😂 You can buy a box here and see my unboxing here.

Firstly I used the Ric Rac Border Dies to cut two pieces of ric rac in both blues, the teal and the white grey. Then I grabbed my Distress Oxide in Salty Ocean and Antique Linen along with some cheap makeup brushes. I then created some sand with the Antique Linen and sky with the Salty ocean. The sand wasn’t getting dark enough for me so I grabbed a blending tool to add a darker layer. To create clouds in the sky I used some paper towel and water.

Things got crazy with the water when I changed my mind how it was going to look mid way ☺ I decided to use a piece leftover from cutting the ric rac as my horizon and then worked from there. Alternating colours and using the grey as whitewash and breaking waves.

The cuties were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on my Stamp Platform and then coloured with Copics.

Water droplets and goggles glass – BG11

Swimmers and hat ribbon – B66 and B69

Bucket and floater ring – R35 and R46

Hat and Starfish – E31, E33 and E35

Hair and Starfish – E59, E57 and E55

Skin – E0000, E000, E00 Mouth R46 and C7 Cheeks R11

I fussy cut the girls out and adhered them to the card. I used stippling with the Copics to give the sand texture and added some Starfish that I coloured with Copics. The Starfish and sentiment came from the Hampton Arts Make a Splash stamp set. Finally I added some water droplets from Coastal Cuties around the sentiment, adding in some BG11 Copic

I hope you enjoyed the card I made with the July Hedgehog Hollow Sunny Studios box.  Hope you are creating some arty crafty alchemy yourselves, by for now.

Man’s Shirt Card feat Junes Hedgehog Hollow Box

 Hello fellow alchemists,

Todays card  is a Man’s Shirt Card feat Junes Hedgehog Hollow Box. There are still a couple of previous boxes on the Hedgehog Hollow website. You can see the new July box here as well as some lolly taste testing. challenging myself I stuck to items mostly from the June box. Apart from ink (there was none in this box) and buttons, I succeeded.

The brown patterned paper in the box threw me off, however I  used it as the basis for the card. The paper reminds me of the 70’s lol. Turning over the top corner of the paper created a collar. After die cutting the pocket from the paper I stamped it with Sepia Archival ink using the Hedgehog Hollow Denim Pocket stamp set.

Cutting a slit in the paper from the bottom to under the collar let me add in an accent piece.  Mimicking piping that matched the folded over collar using a scrap piece of the patterned paper. Hunting through my buttons I found three thought were  perfect for the shirt.

After cutting the Hand Lettered Dad die from cardstock with double sided adhesive on one side three times I layered them together. Then I covered the die cut stack with the Nuvo Clear Mark Embossing Pad and sprinkled with Copper Blush embossing powder.

The skin was coloured on Neenah Solar White with Copics. The buttons are stuck down with Helmar glue after adding some brown Hampton Arts twine to them. After a battle stamping the extra sentiments from the HH Masculine sentiments I made a sentiment strip to finish the card.

I hope you enjoyed todays Man’s Shirt Card feat Junes Hedgehog Hollow Box. Leave me a comment below letting me know how I did with my challenge. Hope you are enjoying some arty crafty alchemy yourselves.

Hedgehog Hollow Card Using All Four Boxes

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Today I am making a Hedgehog Hollow Card Using All Four Boxes. I did not start out by planning it this way but as I was going through the boxes it organically happened. I did cut a lot of the footage of me flipping through the boxes and choosing papers to save time lol. Luckily all the flowers were already cut out so that saved me a tonne  of time!

Knowing I was going to use the Hedgehog Hollow Pocket stamps and dies I planned accordingly, finding two papers that looked good together. Hunting through my as yet unsorted ink pad swatches I found a colour that closely matched the papers. At first I was concerned the Milled Lavender Distress ink was too pale. The Tim Holtz stamp platform helped me get around this by allowing me to repeatedly stamp the images on top of themselves, building up the colour.

I die cut the Sweet word die three times on white cardstock backed with Crafts 4 U wide double sided adhesive tape.  Layering them up and covering them with Milled Lavender and clear Wink of Stella. The stamped and cut pocket was adhered with foam tape to raise it up.

After quickly shaping a bunch of the precut Lawn Fawn Spring Sprig flowers I adhered them with Helmar glue. After sticking the layered up sweet to the pocket I added some more flowers. Then I added more bling to a card than I ever have before!

Here  are the cards I helped my little friend make.

A little crooked but not bad for a 4 year old. The next one uses chipboard from a previous haul that you can get here.

What did you think of my Hedgehog Hollow Card Using All Four Boxes? It didn’t go quite the way it was envisioned, card making is like that though… Hope you are all creating some arty crafty alchemy of your own. See you next time 🙂

Winners and a Hedgehog Hollow, Waffle Flower and Pretty Pink Posh May 2018 Card

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Today we find out who won the 100 Sub Party giveaway. Following on from that is a card using Hedgehog Hollow, Waffle Flower and Pretty Pink Posh . The sequins may have thrown up everywhere.

Tow cards were made before the video using the Hedgehog Hollow Sweet die. Both the positive and negative die cuts were used so I didn’t waste any of the sparkly paper. One was coloured with copics like in the video, the only difference being that R21 and R22 were used for the cheeks and ear. The white embossing was done with Hero Arts White embossing powder.

For the mouse on the negative die cut I used the Aldi Graphic Markers. They do bleed a little on Neenah though. The sentiments on this one were done with LDRS ink from the March box and then embossed with the clear embossing powder I received in the box. The background was stamped with the Waffle Flower Sweet Ice Creams using  LDRS inks from the march box and Archival inks.  I used Promarkers with detail nibs to fill in the ice creams behind sweet as I didn’t think to stamp the whole panel only the edges.

For the card in the video I used copics and added some shimmer to the ice cream with a wink of Stella shimmer brush pen. The sentiments were stamped with the Nuvo Embossing pad from the box and Hero Arts white was used again.  I used Clear Kool Tak foam tape to raise the mouse and sentiments. I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish the card. All mice were stamped with Memento ink.

Congratz to the winners of my channels first giveaway :). Hope you all enjoyed these cards (I am in two minds, I should have used plain backgrounds with the sequins) and are enjoying some arty crafty alchemy of your own. My next box has landed in Sydney so should here next week. Plus I am super excited to share some cards I make with the Super Hero Chip Melinda sent me. Ciao for now.

Hedgehog Hollow Waffle Flower May 2018 Box Slider Card

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Today card is a Lawn Fawn slider card with this months Hedgehog Hollow Waffle Flower May 2018 Box. Throw in a DCWV Rainbow Splash paper stack and the Lawn Fawn Magic Slider dies and we are good to go! You can see me unboxing this months box here and you can get it here.

Trying to be more organised when I film, so I precut everything I needed and actually had everything for a change. There is a missing stamp about though! The Copics and Promarkers were even picked before filming, though I did need to find some more. Stamping on cardstock was done with alcohol marker friendly Memento and on the acetate with Stazon.

The Waffle Flower Sweet Ice Cream and Hedgehog Hollow Sweet Sentiments stamp sets were both used. Copics and Promarkers (see below) were used to colour. To create the mask I used a piece of paper, some fussy cutting and some Zig Two Way glue. Most of the colouring used two colour blends.

Ice Cream Combos – Promarker V735 and Copic C5, Promarkers G267 and G356, Copic B24 and Promarker B637, Copic R85 and R83, Copic E53 and E51, Copic E79 and E77, Copic R24 and R27 and some Glitz Sea marker Southern Ocean.

Mouse – Shirt – Copic YR18 and YR16 Bow Tie (cause bow ties are cool) – Promarker B637 and Copic B24 Mouse – Copic W5, W3 and W1 Cheeks and Ear – Copic R23 and R21.

Background – Ground – Copic C5, C3 and C1 Ground – Copic B00, B000, B0000.

That’s a lot of colours! If you watched to the end of the video you saw as well as using the Hedgehog Hollow Waffle Flower May 2018 Box I also showed how to use stamps from this previous box and talked about how you could case your stash to get similar results :). I Hope you enjoyed this video and are doing some arty crafty alchemy yourself. Bye for now.

Hedgehog Hollow March 2018 LDRS Pop Up Box

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Sorry for the late post. Between my daughters science assignment, feeling fluey and computer issues I am really behind the eight ball today lol. Hope everyone else is well! Todays video features products from The Hedgehog Hollow March 2018 LDRS box (Little Darlings Rubber Stamps). You can see a project I made with the February box here.

What I thought was going to be an easy card to make turned out to be a pain in my butt haha. I had a few errors along the way, had to edit a couple out as time was getting away from me lol. There are still a couple in there though! Mostly I just kept adding tape to the wrong places lol.

The middle bars looked a little plain to me so I decided to add the straight Lawn Fawn Meadow Border to them. It was a little higher than I’d have liked but the grass added an extra element that I really liked especially as I always feel like I need to fill everything up!  Winnie, the doggy and some accessories from the stamp set Furry Fabulous out of the Hedgehog Hollow March 2018 LDRS box as well as the Flowers from the February boxes Some Bunny Lawn Fawn set were stamped with Memento ink. If you watched the video you will see why I did not use the LDRS Hybrid Ink. I used the co-ordinating dies for Furry Fabulous and Some bunny to cut my coloured pieces out.

The Copic and Promarker colours I used are:

Doggy – YR20, YR23 and Promarker O538 (Apricot) Nose – R00, R01, R02 Dog Tag – Y28.

Winnie – Skin – E000, E00, E01 Dress and Bow – BG10, BG11, BG13 Hair – V91, V93, V95.

For the flowers I used the colours above as well as – RV55, RV52, Promarker G159 (Lime Zest), YG03 and YG06

Bone – C00, C0

Hope you liked what I made with the supplies from the box. I have my thinking cap on for my next make. My new box has been sent so I best get a wriggle on lol. What’s your favourite thing from the Hedgehog Hollow boxes so far? Hope you are creating some Arty Crafty Alchemy of your own, Bye for now,

Make Your Own Metallic and Pearl Paints Like Finetec/Coliro

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Today I am showing you how to make your own Metallic and Pearl paints like the Finetec Coliro and the Gansai Tambi gem and starry colour palettes. They are super easy to make with liquid Gum Arabic and any type of fine Mica Powder.

These turned out far better than I expected. I used a range of different mica powders to show that maybe you have something similar in your stash or your house that you can use too. I used Pearl Ex, Perfect Pearls, Colorworks gold powder and even a powdered eye shadow. You could even break up any of your sparkly eyeshadows and grind them down to a powder to make paint.  Gum Arabic is a type of glue/binder that is often used to make watercolours so once the paint is dried and won’t wipe off your surface.

I have given a quick demo on some painted flowers, though I didn’t use the best brushes they still turned out pretty well. I am not a hand letterer yet, though I did do some calligraphy in my younger years, so will mostly use this paint to add shimmer highlights to flowers and butterflies and well anything else I think needs some added sparkle!

I have only mixed up five colours so far but I am sure I will add more. I have the whole collection of Pearl Ex and about eight Perfect Pearls. I also have a few bottles of those eye shadows that I bought to make paint. So I will be able to add a lot of variety to my colours when I make more 🙂

Have you made your own Fintec Coliro ot Gansai Tambi type paints? They remind me a lot of H20s, though I never had them either :(. I used to love watching people make things with them. I have mixed pearl paint as I needed it before. That was with the powdered Gum Arabic though. I have read to get that to disperse properly you need to use warm water.

Hope you are making some arty crafty alchemy magic of your own. See you next time.

Make Your Own Wreath Builder Template

Hello fellow Alchemists,

Today I am showing you how to make your own Wreath Builder template. Don’t be worried by the size of the video! I also give a demo on how to use the Wreath Builder template and show some examples of smaller ones I have made. The Wreath Builder template only takes around 10 minutes to make the first time and once you have that size made you’re ready to make projects.

Sorry for the cruddy voiceovers I had to record it with my laptop as I couldn’t find my headphones :(. Anyway the Wreath Builder template is pretty easy to make. All you need are square dies, a die cutting machine, paper trimmer, ruler, a pencil and some heavy weight cardstock, a cereal box or stencil plastic. Oh and some tape to hold your die in place.

Above is the picture I showed in the video which shows how to line the die up by using our folded pieces of paper. Use the folded lines and the ruled lines to get the piece of paper in place and then add the die over the top. I am sure this could be done with a ruler and a scalpel someway but I am not that patient! Much easier with dies and a die cutting machine. Don’t forget you can make any size just go by the diagonal size of the die you are using and measure the middle of your cardstock to do the + in the middle.

This is a picture of what I created in the video. You can stop at any point or add more objects until you are happy with the wreath. The stamps used in this image are from Docrafts Traditional Floral Creativity and Kaisercrafts P.S. I Love You stamp sets as well as a random Facebook set. Any small to medium stamps you have will work. With masking you could use larger stamps too.

This pic shows a busier wreath jam packed with flowers and leaves. It’s all personal preference. I like both busy and more simple wreaths. I think I will use the Wreath Builder template a lot to make a quick card when I need one in a pinch or when I need a bunch of quick cards for an event.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I’d love to see what you create with a Wreath Builder template so leave a comment and a link below. Hope you’re creating your own Arty Crafty Alchemy. See you next time.

My First 10 Distress Oxide Swatches

Hello Fellow Alchemists,

Today my lovely assistant, better known as my daughter, and I are creating Distress Oxide swatches from my first 10 colours. You saw me haul the Distress Oxides here. We are using four different methods to create the swatches and adding water to some.

We are creating our Distress Oxide swatches using manila tags, brushes, blending tools and foams and the ink pads themselves. The Distress oxides have a different effect than regular distress inks. When water is added they “oxidise” or form a paler layer on top. But that’s not all, because Distress Oxides are both a pigment and a dye based ink pad the more water you add the more of the dye ink wicks out the bottom. Remember the Distress Embossing powder over regular Distress Ink and spritzed with water? It is similar to that except now we have the pigment ink on top doing it’s magic instead.

Firstly my assistant took a brush and blended the colour over tags lightly? Ok well she was a bit heavy handed but she didn’t know any better, lol. Then she used the Blending Tool to do the second Distress Oxide swatch. For the third and fourth swatches she went directly to the paper from the ink pad. The first two swatches had water flicked on them from her fingers, the third had water from the Distress Spray Bottle and the fourth had no water.

We created Distress Oxide Swatches in all 10 of the colours I currently own. Antique Linen, Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, Wilted Violet, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Walnut Stain and Black Soot. I picked these colours to try and have a somewhat well rounded palette. Also because these blend so well it’s easy to make your own colours as well while blending. Above is the re-swatch of the black soot as the right sample is the one with the dry inkpad.

What is your favourite Distress Oxide colour?

Hope everyone is creating their own Arty Crafty Alchemy this weekend. I hope to but my daughter has part one of a science experiment due 🙁

Hedgehog Hollow Lawn Fawn Easter Wreath Card March 2018

Happy Easter Fellow Alchemists,

Welcome to my first Easter card using The Hedgehog Hollow’s Lawn Fawn February box. (It’s my second really but my first video is having issues!) We’ve got Some Bunnies and Spring Sprigs galore 🙂 Enjoy the video and my foibles along the way lol. You can see my unboxing of the first box here.

There were a few technical difficulties making this card too! First missing stamps that took hours to find. I’d been helping my son in-law with a project and they disappeared in the meantime. Then there was the panel that got stuck down when I should have waited lol. There was no run through before I shot the video so these things are bound to happen! The Easter card got there in the end though.

This was a lot of fun to make, the eggs in the sprigs instead of the flowers, they look really cute. I do wish I’d chosen a more yellow colour instead of the cream so it popped a bit more but live and learn.

The first card will hopefully be up in the next day even if I have to reshoot what is messed up. The main problem is I only had one of each of some of the products used so reshooting the whole video is not an option. So we shall see what can be done, it’s in the last third of the video so am hoping it’s nothing major.

Here is a list of the colours I used:

Bunnies – Copics W5, W3, W1, W0, W00 Ears WOO, RV10, R21

Eggs pairs –  R21, R10. Bg15, BG13. B00, B02. BV01, Bv02. V15 and Promarker V546. Promarkers O929, O949.

Promarkers and VCopics work really well together 🙂

Thanks for doing some arty crafty alchemy with me
